What are the definitions of an arm and a tentacle for a squid or octopus?

Arms

  • have suction cups for their entire lenght,
  • can't be retracted.

Tentacles

  • haven't suction cups (apart from the ending, which can be considered a tentacled arm)
  • are retracted, and pushed out to catch preys.
