Mexicans are from Mayan or Aztec Indian decedents mixed with the Spaniards who colonized them in the 1400s as well as the African American Slaves that were brought to work for them.

Mexicans have a very characteristic melody when speaking, and often pronounce the stress on the second last syllable in many words. More commonly described as speaking as if they are singing.

Puerto Ricans are from Taino Indian decendants mixed with Spaniards who colonized them as well in the 1400s and again the African American Slaves.

Puerto Ricans having a stronger African American background with a hint for French their Spanish is a bit more broken. For example the Spanish word for car "carro" Puerto Ricans don't roll their r like most Spanish speaking countries, most Puerto Ricans tend to pronounce the double r as the French would or a Spanish j, as for the single r they tend to replace it with an l. They also tend to not use the letter sas much, it usually varies, depending on the word and its placement in the sentence.

Here's an example of how a Puerto Rican would pronounce these sentences:

Spanish "Ellos van al carro" "Ellos son Puertorriqueños"

English (they are going to the car) (They are Puerto Rican)

Puerto Rican Spanish "Ello van al cajo" "Ello son Pueltojiqueños"

this is not a proper answer, the people from Dominican Republic speak that way, not puertoricans, also it depends on the education the person has as well, and where they are from in the Island, like in the states all Americans do not speak proper English and they have diffrent accents from the states they are from and there backgrowns.

Both are lovely places for a holiday. Mexico, because of its size and variety wins hands down on almost every measurable scale but consider Puerto Rico as a gem in the middle of the Caribbean with the single advantage of being a US property.

What led to the discontent among puerto ricans even after the passage of the foraker act?

The Foraker Act granted only partial, rather than full citizenship to Puerto Ricans. It left the legal status of the island nebulous. The Jones Shafroth Act increased their representation and allowed for a popularly elected senate, all laws still needed to pass through Congress. Many Puerto Ricans were aggrieved at both bills, because they continued to only provide them partial rights.

If Puerto Rico did not have the observatory would puerto ricans need passports?

No, having the observatory has NOTHING to do with the necessity for a U.S. passport. I´ll explain to you the little history that I know about Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico was adquired by the U.S. in 1898 after they had won the Spanish-American War in 1898. Later, in the ´50´s (in 1952 I believe), Puerto Rico´s political status was elevated to a "commonwealth/estado libre asociado." Since then, Puerto Ricans have been American citizens just like anyone else born in the continental US. However, Puerto Rico is NOT a state and Puerto Ricans pride themselves in being Puerto Ricans/Boricuas more often than simply Americans. Thus, a passport is not needed for traveling between the US and Puerto Rico.
