The best way to determine the sex of a person by the skeleton is by the pelvic bone. In a female, the pelvic bone is more shallow and wider then in a male. Bones are usually longer and denser in a male as well as points for muscle attachment. A male skull has a squarer chin and more exaggerated eye sockets.

The female brain is very similar to the male brain, except it has a 23% larger corpus callosum which helps the two hemispheres communicate better with each other. The left hemisphere has more to do with logic and speaking, and the right has more to do with emotions and art. This is why women can multitask and talk about their emotions better than most men. It is also to the advantage of men, because it allows them to be more task oriented, though they have a harder time talking about their emotions.

"This is why women can multitask and talk about their emotions better than most men. It is also to the advantage of men, because it allows them to be more task oriented, though they have a harder time talking about their emotions."

The statements in quotations fall into the category of "Just-so-stories" and are not based in properly controlled scientific studies. I think these statements merely reflect popular stereotypes, not evidence. Please give better evidence supporting this notion and address the wide variation amongst both sexes in task execution as a function of attention.

Second, the ability to so-called "multi-task" is questionable for both sexes.

Third, in many cultures (in work and family interactions) women might be in more socially subordinate positions and hence be regarded as more interuptable, and expected to juggle time and attention demands. In other words they are more practied at attentional shifting. Women are also encouraged, socially, to communicate their emotions, whereas men are discouraged from emotional disclosure (ar least specific emotions suggesting weakness).

Lastly, the response as originally posted does not differentiate between sexually dimorphic brain modifications that occur as a result of experience (plasticity) vs. endogenous strucutral differences between human males and females.

The cause and effect linkage between corpus collusum structure and trends in CNS task performance ought to be better supported with evidence, and qualified, to make the original "answer" more convincing.

Typically, the male skull is larger, denser and so heavier than the female. There are also various structural differences in the typical male and female skull. Male skulls tend to have a more pronounced brow and jawbone and less fat. The male chin also tends to be wider and more square than a feminine less angular and smaller chin. Teeth in a male skull are also bigger. Females also tend to have proportionally wider faces due to more protrusive cheekbones and more fat to exaggerate this. These are only the most obvious of many differences, but fortunately for us, the human brain has a built in 'distinguisher' that can tell 99% of peoples sex without a conscious thought on bone structure.

Generally you look for the following characteristics, however due to variation it is best to compare within a large population of people.

Female: vertical forehead, pointed chin, thin, sharp supraorbital margin, rounded

skull shape, obtuse jaw angle

Male: sloping forehead, larger mastoid process, greater rugosity (nuchal crest),

larger glabela prominence, larger frontal eminence, squared eye orbits,

larger cheekbones

The easiest way to distinguish a human male skeleton from female is by the pelvis. A male's pelvis will have a narrower heart-shaped inlet in the center, where the female's pelvis would have a circular inlet, flared-out hips and a wider sciatic notch.

Male humans have a different genetic structure from females, consisting of an X and a Y chromosome, where females have two X chromosomes.
