∙ 13y agoPhenomenally a monocot seed has embryo with one cotyledon (Scutellum), and a dicot with two cotyledones. Also a monocot seed has plenty of endosperm where as in dicot seeds the endosperm is used up by the developing embryo in most of the cases.
Aside from dicots having two seed leaves and monocots having one seed leaf, the seeds of monocots have one 'hole' in them and dicots have three 'holes' in them
An example of a monocot seed is Maize (Zea mays) and a common dicot the beaneeds.
