DifferencesJunior Colleges are normally cheaper and smaller than four year colleges, and most are feeder schools for larger universities. Meaning that it's easier for your credits to transfer into the larger school. Also you can't get a bachelors at a two year school. It is a good choice if you want smaller class sizes. I went to a large school. Three hundred people in freshman chemistry versus 30 to 40 at a Junior College.
Independent means you don't have to rely on other people to get by whereas dependent you have to depend on other people to get by.
