AnswerSynchronous communication is direct communication where the communicators are time synchronized. This means that all parties involved in the communication are present at the same time. This includes, but is not limited to, a telephone conversation (not texting), a company board meeting, a chat room event and instant messaging. Asynchronous communication does not require that all parties involved in the communication to be present at the same time. Some examples are e-mail messages, discussion boards, blogging, and text messaging over cell phones. In distance (specifically online) education asynchronous communication is the major (sometimes the only) method of communication. Usually, we use different discussion boards in each class with each having its own purpose.

Although all parties maybe present at the same time, they don't necessarily communicate in a synchronized fashion. Telephone conversations, board room converstions, and chat sessions are asynchronous in nature due to the fact that each participator can interrupt at any given moment which makes them inherently asynchronous.

Asynchronous vs. Synchronous Communication

What the different between synchronous and asynchronous?

In asynchronous transmission , the receiver and the transmitter each use their own clock signals so its not possible to know when a word starts and stops. while in synchronous , the receiver and the transmission have common clock signals.

CAN Protocol uses asycnchronous communication. It is high speed 1 Mbps, short distance protocol.

It can be either.

Why the synchronous modems are more costly than the asynchronous modems?

Because they contain clock recovery circuits

What is the difference between synchronous IO and asynchronous IO?

If a process requests that the O/S write data to disk, and has to wait for it to be written before continuing, then that is Synchronous. If the process does not have to wait for the write to be completed, that is Asynchronous. Synchronous is real-time.

Differecne between synchronous circuit and a asynchronous circuit?

Synchronous circuits operate under the influence of s clock pulse while asynchronous circuits operate without the influence of a clock pulse

Difference between synchronous and asynchronous flip flops?

synchronous means it is based on a clock...it performs operations based on every clock tick....asynchronous operations execute irregardless of the clock signal

What is the difference between synchronous communication and asynchronous communication?

Synchronous just means "at the same time," so the difference is basically between immediate forms of communication. Here are some examples:Asynchronous communication:EmailMessage BoardsLettersBlogsVideo or Music recordingsOnline discussion boardsSynchronous communication:Phone callsAudio and Video conferencesIn person concertsInstant messaging / chatIn-person conversations / meetingsClearly the synchronous method is much faster, but the method that is best for a specific communication depends on the circumstances.

What is asynchronous transmission?

An Asynchronous Communication is where there is 'variable bit rates' at the send and receive ends, in other words the send and receive clock generators are not synchronized as in a Synchronous Communication. Synchronous communication is direct communication where the communicators are time synchronized. This means that all parties involved in the communication are present at the same time. This includes, but is not limited to, a telephone conversation (not texting), a company board meeting, a chat room event and instant messaging. Asynchronous communication does not require that all parties involved in the communication to be present at the same time.
