There are General Practitioners, which cover pretty much anything. Then the following are some of the many specialties:

Probate, Trusts and Estate, Tax, Corporate, Patent and Trademarks, Criminal Defense, Prosecutors, Medical Malpractice, Tort (Slip and fall, accidents, etc.) Family Law (Divorce and custody), Property and Real Estate, Civil Rights, Constitutional Law, Admiralty, Immigration Law, Agency, Consumer Protection, and Elder Law.

And within each field of practice you can divide up into various specialties. Some specialize in Litigation while others prefer to handle Appeals
