There are two common types.

One uses UV-B (or other less characteristic radiation) absorption, and infers ozone concentration from the Beer-Lambert law. Good for measuring ozone in a gas stream.

Another uses a compound that is oxidized by ozone, and this reaction causes / enables an electrical current flow. Good for measuring ozone gas in air or a liquid stream. These sensors usually require replacement / refreshment of the liquid in the cell, more frequent calibration, and are usually not ion specific to ozone (chlorine will also be indicated) so variable water quality can make calibration a problem.

What does mean E0 test on ship?

It is a test of sensors related to the operating safety of a ship. E.g. you test the temperature sensors and pressure sensors of the engines of a ship to verify that they report the correct values and sound the alarm and/or shut down the engines if the value is outside the limits.

Do proximity sensors help keep my home safe at night?

No. Proximity sensors are generally used to detect objects, not people. Motion sensors use a different technology.
