What are the different types of abortions?

Answer:
There are many different types of abortion that are used for different stages of pregnancy. Before about 6-8 weeks, abortion pills are normally used, which cause the womb lining to break down, thus taking the embryo with it. This results in a very heavy period for the mother. 2 other methods are suction and D&C. A suction abortion is where the cervix is dilated to the size of a straw and then a suction like the one at the dentists is attached to a vacuum is inserted. This sucks out the fetus and the womb lining. D&C is where a special knife (curette) is inserted into the uterus and used to scrape out the fetus. After that up to the 20th week there's the dilation and evacuation method which is a two-part procedure that can be done up to 24 weeks of pregnancy. The doctor will slowly open the cervix and will use medical instruments, suction, and curettage to complete the procedure. Abortions are not performed after 20 weeks without special reasons like maternal health. After 24 weeks it's pre-mature birth.
