After that up to the 20th week there's the dilation and evacuation method which is a two-part procedure that can be done up to 24 weeks of pregnancy. The doctor will slowly open the cervix and will use medical instruments, suction, and curettage to complete the procedure. Abortions are not performed after 20 weeks without special reasons like maternal health. After 24 weeks it's pre-mature birth.
