Project delays, cost over runs, failure to deliver to the correct specifications or requirements, and ultimately failure to deliver anything. This could be coupled with teams not knowing what they are doing, in team fighting, blame culture developing, poor moral, people leaving the team or even company, poor annual appraisals for the team, lower raises, or even people getting fired as they could be identified as scapegoat's. Executives get frustrated and pull good people from other projects to sort out the mess. Customers become dissatisfied, they do not come back for more business, they tell other Customers of your poor performance, your company looses other revenue streams, things get tight, people get fired and some companies go into liquidation, administration or loose millions/billions (just look at what one ineffective manager did to some of the banks recently). In other cases, ineffective managers get promoted out of their current roles, in order to create even more havoc at higher levels. In summary ineffective project managers cause chaos, crisis and catastrophe, and that is on a good day.

Education to be a pharmaceutical project manager?

Being a Project Manager is basically a standard task, and although having a relevant experience (for example, a background in the pharmaceutical industry) helps, it is not necessary. Project Management is simply about getting the project done, regardless of the industry. Thus, to become a Project Manager in the pharmaceutical industry, you have to follow the same path to become a Project Manager.

What is difference between java developer and java project manager?

In a typical development shop, a java developer does the actual work while a java project manager receives the credit in addition to a much larger pay check. Generally, the term "java project manager" implies that a resource knows neither java nor project management. However, the atypical title allows a java project manager to easily hide his/her lack of knowledge. Take the following conversations as examples of a typical verbal exchange with a java project manager: Java Developer: "Hey Java Project Manager, i am having problems with an out of memory exception in my servlet container, how do i view the contents of my heap?" Java Project Manager: "I am sorry, i am mostly a Project Manager, it has been along time since i have programmed java" or Senior Manager: "Hey Java Project Manager, how is your project plan going? When i tried to level your resources in M$Project, the end date was 2012" Java Project Manager: "I am sorry, i am not very good with M$Project, i have been working on solving an out of memory exception which is holding up one of my developers" Your mileage may vary however.

Advantages and disadvantages for Gantt Chart?

The main advantage of the Gantt Charts is that visualizing your project schedule makes it very easy for the Project Manager to communicate the project schedule to various stakeholders as well as to the project team. The main disadvantage is that Gantt Charts are not well suited for conveying complex dependencies or projects having significant potential variability in completion dates. The PERT chart was devised in the 50's for the Polaris project in order to represent this key missing concept.

What is a project Co-ordinator?

A project expediter is somebody who keeps track of status but has no decision-making authority on a project at all. A project coordinator is someone who does pretty much the same thing, but does get to make some of the minor decisions on the project without having to run them by the functional manager. Coordinators usually report to somebody who is pretty high up in the organization, while expediters are more like assistants to the functional manager. Both of them usually exist in weak-matrix or functional organizations.
