The child can be affraid of the gender of the abuser they can develop mental illnesses and so much more They will go on their life thinking that they are inappropriate, or not as good as other people, not to mention the build up of anger.
There is really no safe zone. I can recall some incidents when a person I now know was sick, routinely doled out ( Knuckle Soup) in something essentially non-violent- a music class. I had no respect for that teacher. This was hazing ( no pun intended) of a hazy sort- as private instruction or practice was normative and There were no witnesses , say classmates- there might be members of the class practicing in other, semi-sound-proofed rooms- stop and think Knuckle soup for playing, say Jingle Bells incorrectly- is surely misguided.

Child abuse is extremely traumatic as the child has put their trust in adults and when abused their little minds go into a magical world all of it's own to blank out the trauma. Some children may not remember they have been abused until they reach adulthood and something triggers off the memories. These are some of the child abuse effects on a child's psychological and physical health:

  • Be slow to learn to walk and talk
  • Be very passive and unable to be spontaneous
  • Have feeding problems and grow slowly
  • Find it hard to develop close relationships
  • Be over-friendly with strangers
  • Get on badly with other children of the same age
  • Be unable to play imaginatively
  • Think badly of themselves
  • Be easily distracted and do badly at school.
  • Not wanting to go to school
  • Not wanting to have sleep overs with their friends
  • Incapable of expressing themselves
  • Stomach aches
  • Periods of vomiting or even diarrhea
  • Wetting the bed
  • Fevers out of the blue
  • May have anger outbursts

Child abuse does lots to your kid most kids fall into 2 categories. 1. As the child gets older the child becomes very violent and "Copy Cats" Who abused or abuses them leading to more abuse. They usually smoke, drink drugs and break laws at during there teenage to Adult years. The child will get angry very easily and show it by mostly yelling and hurting others.

2. The child will be very sensitive crying a lot and have many bad memories leading to depression.

* Child can't sleep or sleep to much

* Child feels hopeless or helpless

* You cannot control negative thoughts no matter how hard you try

* You've lost your appetite or can't stop eating

* You feel that life is not worth living (If bad enough Suicide)

Hope this helps!

However the child may just turn out fine!

Children start to hate, and want to hurt their parents when they do that, but they cant. No one likes to be hurt. It destoys them physically and most important, mentally. They're self esteem is demolished, and they tend to grow up as child abusers themselves. If you EVER see sure of signs of child abuse, report to their teacher, principle, or quite frankly the police. Hope this will help.

Children, to use an old didactic ( preachy, teachy) blank verse, learn what they live. they are children of experience. They do not have adult faculties of staying distant from a situation -they tend to project into story lines, gear characters down to a kiddy level ( for example they will say a Boy traveler, when the character in say , one of Verne"s novels is an adult male, and so on. Kids have a wild uncontrolled imagination and this is not all bad- they draw a very hazy line between reality and fantasy. Felix the Cat is a cartoon character, but sometimes kids well stretch the truth. This is why there are different critical standards for adult and children"s literature- particularily on the lower end of the scale. Violent family strife- arguments, divorce, etc were traditionally taboo in family tales - even on TV Okay to narrow sights- a kid can have a bad experience with - say a music teacher who may be a sadist- and this could mark them for life. It is surprisingly easy as the music classes are usually solitary affairs- there are no witnesses, and often studios have soundproofed practice rooms- other things than say Jingle Bells might be practiced! Well, the kid could grow up hating music, again looking at the lilmited perspective of a child. Child abuse is a sour but real , and hazardous realityl.

How does child abuse affect a child's mind?

Child abuse affects a way the child thinks and acts. If a child was abused, for example hit multiple times, every time someone raises a hand(for a high five or something) they might twitch or something. Their ideas, thoughts, and dreams might be affected. Bad dreams, terrible thoughts, and they might think abuse is okay and abuse other people.

Distinguish child abuse from child exploitation and child discrimination?

Abuse means cruel or inhumane treatment. Exploitation means an act that exploits or victimizes someone (treats them unfairly). Discrimination means unfair treatment of a person or group on the basis of prejudice. The first, abuse, certainly involves physical abuse of the body or the mind. Exploitation need not include physical abuse, rather it is a non violent kind of abuse as is discrimination. The latter two play on the mind rather than the phsyical hurting of a body. The affects of the latter two may cause an individual to harm themselves.

How would substance abuse increase a child's vulnerability to abuse?

Drug abuse is indeed, as Shakespeare might have styled it a (Dagger of the Mind) and it cuts deep. kids who are fantasy-prone could freak out completely in an illusionary life style that would make it difficult to distinguish fact from fantasy- this has long been a problem in Child-abuse cases. Kids that swallow Santa Claus as fact and consider Flintstone and Spongebob as (friends) can be sent for a virtual mind-storm if exposed to child abuse of drugs- to sell a child drugs itself is ( contributing to the delinquincy ( as it is a criminal act) of a minor. The drug pusher would have a dependent cash- err calf. it is outright tragic.

Why do people commit suicide when the are sexually abused?

Very often the guilt of sexual abuse is transferred to the child by the abuser. The child is told that he or she has a 'secret' and mustn't tell anyone about the abuse. Afterwards the child naturally feels dirty and shameful despite the fact that the child is innocent and the abuser the guilty party. Unless the abuse is discovered, the abuser punished and the child undergoes a healing process (either through counselling, psychotherapy or similar treatment) they can harbour this guilt right through their life, even into late adulthood. Occasionally the abused child's guilt ends up as depression, as the body and mind's way of coping with the untreated 'shame' of abuse. If the depression takes hold, and is severe enough, thoughts of suicide can result. .

Can a family influence behaviors?

Definitely it can. A child usually learns by seeing and what he or she sees being done in that particular community (in this case, the family) the child is bound to be affected. Take for example an abusive family tends to produce a child who is abusive as the abuse is registered as a normal behavior in he child's mind, whereas the opposite is true.
