What are the ethical implications relating to abortion?

Answer:
The ethical is simply an immoral act. The object of morality is itself bad and the good intention does not justify its achievement. Therefore the implication is simply committing unethical way.

That was a answer based on religious views.

If you don't believe abortion is murder the ethics lies on the woman and her rights since the fetus live off her. It would be unethical to force her give up her life and body for something who can not live outside her body against her will. There is of course a limit and that is when the fetus is viable.

As this question asks about ethics (which are distinct from morals), here is a short list of possible issues requiring a decision on ethicial grounds:
  • At what stage of pregnancy (if any) should an abortion be acceptable?
  • Who can make the decision about an abortion? Can someone other than the female make the decision to abort (or not) for the female?
  • Does the biological father have any input?
  • Should anyone besides the female be notified of the abortion?
  • Should the circumstances of the pregnancy have any bearing on the abortion?
  • Should the condition (or potential condition) of the fetus have any bearing on the abortion?
  • Should society allow abortions based on genetic testing of the fetus and/or parents?
  • What happens to the remains of the aborted fetus (and related material)?
  • Is having an abortion to collect needed biological material OK?
  • Should doctors be held ethically responsible for decisions of their patients regarding abortion?
  • What is a doctor's ethical responsibility about abortion when their legal responsibility conflicts with the doctor's morals?
