Outside of the specific qualifications particular to the field, you will need to convince the employer that hiring you makes good business sense. The employer will hire you based on what they feel you can accomplish for them both immediately and in the future. Most employers will look for good critical thinking skills, the ability to communicate well in both written and oral form. They will look for signs of sincere commitment and dedication, the ability to work within a team environment, and recognition of the importance to keep in strict alignment with the organizations goals and objectives. You should do some research on each organization you apply to. Lastly, do not say anything that you cannot back up immediately. So many individuals indicate they have a particular expertise, and when asked to describe a situation where they used this expertise, the individual falters over their words and wind up in a very embarrassing situation. Be honest and straight forward. Thus, you have the basic hard skills through your engineering courses, but you must also work on your soft skills (people skills).
