If a copied video file does not play on a laptop the player on the laptop might be worn out. It could also be the format of the DVD that the file was copied to might not be correct. If the DVD is a data DVD than the video file will not play.
Copy the downloaded movies to DVD by burning the DVD as data format. Once done, insert the DVD in the player, browse to file and play it.
The music could have been recorded in an incorrect file format, one that the DVD player is not able to interpret.
I have an iomega prestige 1tb hard drive that wiil not play thru my Magnavox dvd player it is formatted to ntfs what format do I need
Most do, yes. As long as the format of the file is one that the dvd player recognises. Most DVD's are backward compatible to CDs and the laser that can read a DVD can also cope with recordable media.
if the movies are in a format to play on the unit you wish to play them on then its simply a matter of burning a DVD with the files on it. For example, if the file is divx and you wish to play it on a stand alone DVD player the player must be divx compliant. To burn it onto the DVD, use the software that came with your DVD player (Nero probably one of the more common applications supplied). If you don't have burning software, you could use a free application like http://cdburnerxp.se/ If you need to convert the file to a format that will play on any stand-alone DVD player, you will need to use an application like http://www.dvdflick.net/ with http://www.imgburn.com/ .. to do this, install both applications, start dvdflick, direct it to the file on your usb stick, and it will convert it to DVD-compliant format then burn to a blank DVD.
I assume you mean to ask if a DVD player can play a video file recorded on an iPod. Maybe. iPod movies are recorded in MOV format. Check your player's specifications to see if it will play MOV files (some don't).
It depends upon you DVD player. If you have simple DVD player then it will play mpeg2 format which are in the .vob files and ac3 which is audio format. It should also play the mpeg1 format which is usually in .dat or called video cds. The new DVD players also support xvid or divx codecs.
Burn to DVDThere are several file formats that will play on DVD players depending on the ability of your DVD player. I would check your manufacturer's information to see what type of files it will play. Most newer DVD players will play AVI or MPEG-2 file formats. I use NCH Software's Express Burn at http://www.nch.com.au/burn/index.HTML to burn Audio, Data, & video to CD, DVD, and/or Blu-ray discs.
I have a three year old toshiba dvd player what format does this take because it will not play in avi format
Yes, when you rip a DVD you are just basically converting one file into another, leaving the original file on the DVD and creating a copy of that file in a different format on your computer. It does not erase the original file unless you have an erasable DVD disc and you choose to erase it.
