the five categories of criminal law violations are:

1) felonies-serious crimes such as murder, rape, robbery, aggrevated assult

2) misdemeanors-minor crimes such as peety theft, disturbing the peace, breaking and entering, disorderly conduct

3) offenses-minor violation of the law that are less serious than misdemeanors such as jaywalking, spitting on the sidewalk, littering or etc...

4) treason and espionage-violation or allegiance toward ones country, esecially the betrayal of ones country by wagingwar against it

5) inchoate offenses-preparing or seeking to commit another crime such as conspiracy

Perhaps you could reword your question to indicate whether you want listed, for example, the five most commonly-prosecuted violations, or the five most serious violations, or five violations which fall into other categories.
