The lymphatic system is essential for the immunity.Many lumphocytes circulate through the lymph through the lymph niodes and the spleen.Phagocytes and dendritic cells bring many bacteria and viruses to the lymph nodes where production of antibodies is achieved.The antibodies help with the destruction of organisms that are foreign to the human body and also they provide secondary immunity.

Also the lymphatic system carries certain nutients from the small bowel into the blood circulation.
Summarily, the main function of the lymphatic system is to maintain fluid balance in the body.

It is, however, also involved in the body's fight against infection by producing lymphocytes.
