What are the greenhouse gases?

Answer:
There are several gases that are classed as greenhouse gases.

They are:
  1. water vapor
  2. carbon dioxide
  3. ozone
  4. methane
  5. nitrous oxide
  6. CFCs

Energy from the sun heats the earth's surface and atmosphere, which drives the earth's weather and climate. The earth's surface radiates some of this solar energy back into space. These atmospheric gases are called greenhouse gases because they help trap some of the outgoing energy, retaining heat somewhat like the glass panels of a greenhouse.
