Boxing Day: The Day after Christmas or if Christmas falls on a weekend then it is the Tuesday after Christmas (Monday is already a holiday) (December 27)

∙ 10y agoThere is distinction to be made between official bank holidays and holidays affecting banks. Bank holidays as defined by the Banking and Financial Dealings Act of 1871 and/or Royal Proclamation result in the bank being shut down for normal operations and business hours. Holidays that are celebrated but not bank holidays result in banks being opened for normal hours. Please note that some official bank holidays exist in England and Wales but NOT Scotland (for example Easter Monday) and vice versa (banks in Scotland are closed January 2, not those in England and Wales).
