Muslims celebrate two holidays: Eid al-Fitr (the Feast of Breaking the Fast) at the end of Ramadan, and Eid al-Adha (the Feast of the Sacrifice) during the Hajj. On Fridays, Muslim men must, and women may, attend a congregational prayer preceded by a sermon. Friday is not a holiday in Islam, although it is in some Muslims countries. Observances such as Ashura and Milad an Nabi have no scriptural basis in Islam, and were added to practice by some Muslims in later generations, but are not observed by the majority of Muslims worldwide.
