Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on Christmas and his Resurrection on Easter. Many members also celebrate "Pioneer Day" on the 24th of July, as that is the day when the first group of Mormon Pioneers arrived at what is now Salt Lake City. Some members observe April 6th as well, which is the day the Church was officially organized. Church members also regard each Sunday as the Sabbath and keep that day holy by spending time with family, worshipping Jesus Christ, studying scripture, and visiting the sick. They do not seek entertainment, go shopping, participate in sporting events, or work on Sunday.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints recognizes the celebration of typical Christian holidays, such as Easter and Christmas. Easter is given the greater emphasis, due to the significance of the atonement, judgement, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Birthdays, fathers day, mothers day etc. are all typically recognized by the family units within the church, however the church officially has no significant interest in these calendar celebrations. Members of the church also celebrate local and national holidays (such as Independence Day). These holidays are often commemorated with special church services.

Mormons celebrate holidays much like other people, except without alcohol. :) We don't have special church services on holidays, but our regular church meetings before most holidays are themed to recognize whatever the holiday represents... in December we celebrate the birth of Christ, and before Easter we celebrate his resurrection. Even though those might not be the actual dates of those events, we celebrate with the rest of the world. Other holidays that have nothing to do with religion are celebrated normally as well.

Members celebrate any local culturally accepted holiday. In the USA the major holidays members participate in are: Easter, Mother's day, Father's Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. In Utah and Idaho it is also typical to celebrate on July 24th, the day that the pioneers entered into the Salt Lake valley, now Salt Lake City, Utah.

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the 'Mormon' church) believe that holidays are a great time to celebrate and spend time with family and friends. Mormons celebrate Christmas and Easter as well as local and government holidays. The Church itself has no official stance on holidays and members choose for themselves which holidays to celebrate and which traditions they wish to carry out in their families. Congregations generally hold special services for Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Thanksgiving, and Independence Day, and may hold congregation activities for various other holidays as well.

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) believe that every Sunday (the Sabbath Day) is holy (see Exodus 20:8). On Sunday, Mormons try to avoid work, shopping, and recreation. They spend the day in worship and spending time with family.

As for religious holidays, Mormons recognize Christmas and Easter and celebrate them with the rest of the Christian world. Most Mormons try to put the emphasis on the birth and resurrection of Jesus Christ rather on the traditions of bunnies and santa, although many Mormon families still participate in those traditions. Some Mormons also celebrate other religious holidays such as Good Friday and Passover, depending on their personal beliefs and traditions.

Most Mormons recognize April 6 as the birthday of the Church and July 24 as 'pioneer day' to honor the Mormon pioneers. July 24 Pioneer Day is a state holiday in Utah. These arent really treated as holy days, but are recognized as special days.

The Church also holds a General Conference the first weekend in April and October each year. Every member is expected to participate in the 2-day conference through television, radio, sattelite, or the internet. This is not necessarily a holy day or a holiday, but it is extremely important and anticipated by Mormons as it is when they hear their prophet and apostles speak.

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) believe that Sunday is the Sabbath Day, and reserve that day to be spent in worship rather than working or seeking amusement. In many Middle Eastern countries, however, worship services are held on Friday or Saturday, in keeping with local customs.

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) celebrate Christmas, Easter, and all national holidays (Independence Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, etc) Many Mormons enjoy the other popular holidays throughout the year (Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Halloween, etc) They also celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Mormons don't have any unique holidays, although some celebrate July 24 as Pioneer Day (a state holiday in Utah celebrating the arrival of the Mormon pioneers).

I have known Mormon families who acknowledge April 6 (the day the church was officially organized), June 27 (the day Joseph Smith was killed), or December 23 (Joseph Smith's birthday). I have also seen Mormon families celebrate Passover, Advent, and other religious holidays. However these are a personal choice of the family and celebrating these days certainly is not the standard among Mormons.
