What are the id ego and superego?

Answer:
The Id, Ego and Superego are Freudian concepts that make up the drive of a person. On the surface is the ego, the force which is conscious. The ego is equivalent to your conscious mind that make decisions. eq: I'm going to fill up my gas before going to the party. Underneath the ego are the id and superego, both of which are unconscious factors in your life. The Id is the force in your life that drives you to obtain pleasure and to avoid displeasure. Freud says this will always overpower the ego. eq: I'm having a craving for a coke cola so I'm going to buy one. The last part of the tri-part self is the superego. The super ego is the unconscious part or yourself that is developed by your upbringing. It contains your sense of guilt, right and wrong, shame and justice. This force also overpower yours ego. eq: My family is constantly working hard to support me, I should also do so.
