As of July 31, 2013, there is a limit to how much pseudoephedrine can be purchased in Indiana. A person can only buy up to 3.6 grams per day, 7.2 grams per month or 61.2 grams per year. Anyone who has been convicted of the illegal manufacturing and use of methamphetamine cannot buy it without a prescription.

It is not illegal, it is however a controlled substance. You will have to show a driver's license and sign a sheet at the counter to purchase it. If you are caught with more than the allowed amount in your possession, then it is considered illegal.

Federal law states that:

1. Regulated sellers of these products must complete a self-certification process that includes training of employees.

2. These products must be stored behind the counter in a locked cabinet.

3. All non-liquid forms of these products (including gel caps) must be packaged in blister packs with each blister not containing more than 2 dosage units.

4. The total amount of these products distributed to a single purchaser in any given 24-hour period must not exceed 3.6 grams.

5. Purchasers are required to show proper identification and sign a log book for each purchase.

6. The log book must contain the following information:

-Name and address of purchaser

-Date and time of sale

-Name of product and quantity sold

-Signature of purchaser

*Some states, localities and stores have stricter requirements governing the sale of pseudoephedrine products. For example, some state require that the purchaser be at least 18 years old.
