I think people have got a wrong idea about the legal side.
Left hand drive cars can be brought and can be registered here. There is not one law or amendment in Indian motor act 1957which says that a left hand driven vehicle cant be registered here or driven in India.
You can send a RTI application (Right to the Information act) to RTO (Regional Transport office) and enquire as to how many left hand driven vehicles they have registered in their office. You know what, you will get the results as Zero. Becasue, even the registration papers will not specify a category if that's a lefthand or righthand driven vehicle. Go, check your RC books if you have any doubts.

Right hand drive cars are legal in the US. Additional mirrors to compensate for the position of the steering wheel may be required, however.
I've seen plenty of right hand drive vehicles in Colorado so I'm sure it's fine, you can always give your local DMV a ring and ask though!
Yes, so long as the vehicle itself is properly registered with a current inspection.
Yes, right hand drive vehicles are legal in the whole of the United States. Added: Most (all) states may require that the vehicle be equipped with certain supplementary mirrors however.
