At 16, even though you think you are totally mature, your emotions still run wild from hormonal changes, peer pressure, etc. Have you ever heard the expression "Be careful what you ask for, because you just might get it."? It's true.

When I was 16 I knew everything, and no one could tell me anything. Then as I started to age, the older I got the dummer I became. One realizes that whatever was earth shattering at the age of 16 was so trivial it's stupid. Oh, here's another quote I love: "Want perfection? Hire a teenager, they know everything."

If you are having a problem with your parents or guardians, have you tried to sit down calmly with them and discuss your issues? If you have, and it didn't work, get a second opinion. Ask someone OLDER what they would do if they were in your shoes.

Finally, you may not get what you want--deal with it. Sometimes not getting everything you want is a blessing in disguise. Good luck.

A minor has the same legal rights as an adult unless said rights are restricted by federal or state statutory laws.

For example a minor has the right to freedom of speech, freedom of religion, right to a public education, right to medical care, right to legal representation and so forth.

A minor is restricted by law from purchasing alcohol, voting, operating a motor vehicle, etc.

All minors are considered to be in the legal and physical custody of their parent(s) or legal guardian until they reach the age of majority or a court rules otherwise

At 16, you also have the right to make your own doctor appointments ( Planned Parenthood), get your liscence, move out with parental consent, and work a 40-hour week.

Im currently doing a list, so here are a few I've found so far.

A list of the things 16 year olds can do J

1. 16 year can give consent to sex

2. You can also legally buy a lottery ticket

3. You can also quit school if you like

4. Be sent to the young offenders institute if you are a bad person

5. Drive a motorbike at 50cc

6. Marry with parental consent

7. Change your name by deed poll; I suppose this would be disrespectful to your current family if you change your name.

8. Apply for legal aid

9. Leave Home

10. Get a Passport. (Which I clearly have?)

11. Buy and sell scrap metal ;) (License needed)

12. You can choose your own doctor

13. You can claim social security benefit

14. You can work full time

15. You can get married with ONLY one parent's permission ;)

16. You can drink wine or beer with a meal in a restaurant ? Didn't know that one :D

17. You can hold a licence to drive a moped

18. You can smoke (Can't purchase)

19. Join the army

20. Get piercings without parental permission

21. Get a tattoo.

But if there are any you are particularly interested in, do your research more thoroughly - im from the UK (well Ireland but up north) and for me to get married i would need parental permission at 16, in Scotland however you don't (some parts of the UK differ slightly but not much)

16 year olds have basic constitutional rights.

They don't have the rights that are reserved to an adult, voting, making a contract, buying alcohol, etc, etc.

An adult is presumed to be able to carry more responsibility for their actions than a child. Privileges and responsibilities go together.
Not to be abused, to be able to go to school, to be fed and clothed by their parents or the state. That's about it. Until they turn 18 or whatever age their specific state requires, minors have limited rights.

I'll try to answer your question based on the categories you put it in, but minors have a huge list of rights. First of all, in order to become emancipated, on of the following must apply: Parent agrees to release rights, parent abandons child, minor is self-supporting (has steady source of income), a parent mistreats a child (is a broad term but usually involves physical or emotional abuse). That being said, you must be a legal adult to live on your own. A legal adult is one who is emancipated by age (reaches 18th birthday), or is declared an adult (by emancipation or other court order). Anyone considering moving out and is not yet a legal adult should visit their county court office and ask about their counties' laws. A pregnant teenager is generally (in most states) emancipated automatically in regards to the pregnancy. Meaning all decisions regarding pregnancy are up to you, and your parents can disagree but do nothing more. A pregnant teenager may ask the court for permission to marry (regardless of father's age) in most states. Once married, you are emancipated.

legal rights of a sixteen year old that is pregnant is about the same as they usually are, the only difference is that you and the father are in charge of the baby not your parents. (in the US) It MIGHT vary in some state, but in most, you are still, legally, considered a minor and you do not have the same rights as afforded to legal adults - those who have reached the age of majority.
