What are the long term effects of protein deficiency in dogs?

Answer:
This is from one with a long time history of raising show and working dogs. Dogs are carnivores for the most part. They love vegetables and fruit, but protein is number one.
To deprive a dog of protein is to deprive him of sources for bone growth, healthy skin, good blood functions and just about anything that makes them tick.
They will lack energy and the ability too think. They will lack those bright eyes and thriftiness that is what we all desire in out furry friends. Dogs should not be vegans.
