Minnesota has 4 large rivers that drain most of the state. On the western border, the red river flows north between Minnesota and the Dakotas, and flows north to Canada, onto Hudson Bay. The Minnesota and Flows from s central Minnesota to the Mississippi ( confluence in Mpls) and the St Croix river starts in N Centreal WI, flows down the MN / WI borde where it empties into the Mississippi. The Mississippi river starts in Lake Itasca, flows north to Bemidji, east to Cass Lake and Grand Rapids, South to Little falls, then St Cloud, to Anoka, Mpls, St Paul and the south along the Mn/Wi border as it flows south to Iowa and eventuallu the Gulf of Mexico.
