the five major lines of longitude are the greenwich meridian,yellowich meridian, bluewich meridian, orangewich meridian and the pinkwich meridian

* * * * *

The major longitude is the Greenwich meridian. The other is the line of longitude on the opposite side of the earth - more or less the International Date Line. Except that it is not a straight pole-to-pole line.

The question is very much like asking "What are the important marks on a ruler ?"

The most important ones are, naturally the ones that mark the place on Earth that

you happen to be interested in at the moment. In my personal case, the important

latitude is 42.04° North and the important longitude is 87.72° West, because that's

where I am sitting right now. In just a little while, when I go to bed, both my

latitude and my altitude will increase slightly.

You might say that the 'zero' mark on a ruler is the important one, because all lengths

are measured from it. Similarly, the 'important' marks of geographic measurement are

those from which all others are measured ... the Equator, at zero latitude, and the

Prime Meridian, at zero longitude.

They are the parallel just south of 42.0363° north latitude and the meridian

just west of 87.7207° west longitude. Those are the lines that pass through

my refrigerator, where my food is kept.
