Common Difficult Interview Questions
This will depend on the type of job you are intereviewing for, but here are a few general questions that are meant to probe your ability to think on your feet, handle pressure, or to test your quantitative or qualitative reasoning skills.
- BRAIN TEASERS -
These may be math or science oriented, or merely testing your creativity. Examples include:
- You have a cube made of smaller cubes, each measuring 1x1x1. The large cube has dimensions 10 x 10 x 10. You remove one layer from the outside of the large cube (meaning all six faces are reduced by 1). How many cubes remain?
- How many fish are there in the sea? (You will be asked to walk the interviewer through your thought process and estimations.)
- Why are manhole covers round?
- PERSONALITY OR EXPERIENTIAL QUESTIONS -
These are generally used to test your ability to deal with pressure or work with a team, or to test your loyalty.
- What did you dislike about your previous job?
- What is your greatest weakness?
- Tell me about a time you failed at something.
