Fruits often thought to be vegetables:
Tomatoes
Cucumbers
Brocolli
Peas
Green Beans
A fruit is the reproductive or flowering part of a plant. Color or sweetness have nothing to do with it. Sugar has nothing to do with it. Seeds are a primary indicator but many reproductive parts don't have seeds, but flower or pollinate.
Brocolli is one of the most shocking but the flowering end that we consume from the stock is actually the fruit of a brocolli plant. A vegetable is any other edible part of a plant. The stock itself if eaten alone would be considered a vegetable. The shell casing of a pea pod is a vegetable but the peas are a fruit. Maybe this will clarify.
