What are the most valuable Australian coins?

Answer:
Not including Proof coins, bullion coins and other non-circulating coins made from precious metals, the most valuable Australian general circulation coins in no particular order are -
  1. 1930 Penny
  2. 1923 Halfpenny
  3. 1915 (H) Florin (Two Shillings)
  4. 1920 Penny (no dots on reverse)
  5. 1925 Penny
  6. 1915 (H) Shilling
  7. 1912 Florin
  8. 1913 Florin
  9. 1914 (H) Florin
  10. 1932 Florin
  11. 1933 Florin

Any of these coins should get $10,000 AUD or more in mint uncirculated condition.

It should be noted that the you are very unlikely to see any mint uncirculated examples of these coins outside a museum or the collections of very wealthy collectors.

The (H) is a very small mintmark, usually on the reverse, indicating that the coin was struck at the Heaton Mint in Birmingham, England.

There are no valuable Australian decimal coins, but that may change in 50 or 100 years.
