There are several equestrian mounts made for Barbie some by accessory makers not necessary under contract to Mattel. Seem to recall a very Western-looking paint (multi-colored) horse called Blaze. as statd there were several and different retailers had custom shops to match Horse and rider, as it were. There were a number of scaled Western Dolls (the Bonanza series, for example) and their classy multi-role Chuck Wagon, they were made by American Character- the Hottest Brand Around, a woodburned brand was burned into a block of wood Several equine mounts have been geared-up for Barbie and similarily-scaled dolls. Most were made by aftermarket manufacturers such as Irwin. They had various color schemes- paint horse, appaloosa, Palomino. In My Father"S CORRAL there are many stalls, pardner- not all with Mattel Brand. By way of inference American Character went bankrupt following a slump in Bonanza ( ill-named) multi-role Chuck Wagons in the late sixties. the vehicles were piled up at the warehouses. Shades of recent slumps with General Motors. The Bonanza chuck-wagon slump drove American Character out of business- their girl-doll lines such as Tressy, were picked up by Ideal that:s the story Whoa!@
Tawny
Since about l967-68 several equestrian mounts have been made for Barbie, and also inter alia other Barbie-scaled Western dolls- see the question about Tressie, American Character, and the ill-fated Bonanza chuck wagon fiasco. From a Bonanza it went into trap rock! there was a very limited market for the wagon toy- boys don:t play with Western dolls- unlike GI Joe and Johnny Reb, for example and the toy was complicated- at least as much as modern truck toys, that"s another story. There are several Horses made for Barbie- and dolls of the same scale. Most were made not by Mattel but by aftermarket vendors such as Irwin, which if my memory serves me right was originally a hardware concern- Every Bit as Good as the Name- was a slogan applied to drill bits- this slogan also used by a much better known Hardware concern, Hughes Tool Co. I seem to recall a Blaze or Blazer- a multi-color paint horse marketed for Barbie by Montgomery Ward/ Whoa! sorry but that"s all.
