Fish generally have 7 or 8 fins in total.

There are 2 on the side; they are called the pectoral fins.

There are 3 on the bottom; a pair of pelvic fins and an unpaired anal fin.

Then there are 1 or 2 on top, called the spiny and soft dorsal, or sometimes just a singular dorsal.

Finally, there is a fin a the end of the fish, called the tail or caudal fin.

The single ones are the Dorsal,(Which may consist of spiny and soft parts) the Caudal, and Adipose fins. The paired fins are the Pectoral, and Ventral(sometimes called the Pelvic) fins.
