The current King and Queen of Spain, Juan Carlos I and Sofia of Greece and Denmark, have three children. The oldest is Infanta Elena, the Duchess of Lugo. The middle child is Infanta Cristina, the Duchess of Palma de Mallorca. The terms 'Infante' or 'Infanta' are royal titles given to the children of the King and Queen who are not the heir. The youngest is Felipe, the Prince of Asturias. Felipe, being the only male child, is the heir to the Spanish Throne.

The children of King Juan Carlos I of Spain, and his wife Queen Sofia, are:

  • HRH Infanta Elena, Duchess of Lugo (born 1963),
  • HRH Infanta Cristina, Duchess of Palma de Mallorca (born 1965),
  • HRH Felipe, Prince of Asturias (born 1968).

HRH stands for His (or Her) Royal Highness, which is their official title. In addition, there are eight grandchildren, all of whom are officially in line for the throne as well.

Who was the king and queen of spain in 1518?

Queen Isabel of Castilla and King Ferdinand of Aragon co-ruled Spain. They were each monarchs of their respective kingdoms and the kingdoms were NOT united therefore what they ruled was not technically Spain. Spain would not come into existence until all three kingdoms were inherited by their grandson Carlos I in 1516.I think the answer should be Isabel and Ferdinand even thought they were not technically King and Queen of Spain.
