During WWII this AO (area of operations) was called the CBI-China/Burma/India Theater which was different than the Pacific Theater of Operations (also called the Pacific War). The Japanese had penetrated thru Burma and their tanks actually made it into India where they fought the British (British India during WWII) at Imphal.
