What are the nearest mountains to North Carolina's coast?

Lucky you. I live on the coast of NC and visit the mountains regularly. The nearest mountains are due west and are the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Smokey Mountains. They are called the smokey mountians because of the mist that rises out of the valleys and looks like smoke. Interstate 64 to Interstate 40 will take you there from the beach.
