Colon sigmoideum
The ilium is a large bone in your pelvis, the 'crest' of your hip. The Iliac fossa is the smooth internal surface of the ilium. It's the place that might hurt if you get constipation!
The organs that are in the left iliac region include distal portion of the descending colon, usually the sigmoid colon, and portions of the small intestine.

Generally, you wouldn't auscultate the whole abdomen. Just one, or maybe two positions for up to 30 seconds listening for bowel sounds. Hyperactivity could mean infection or toxin present, absence could mean ileus. The 9 quadrants are:- * Right hypochondrium * Left Hypochondrium * Epigastric * Umbilicus * Suprapubic * Left Iliac Fossa * Right Iliac Fossa * Left Lumbar * Right Lumbar

The appendix lies in the right iliac fossa. Not on the left lower side of the abdomen. Unless you have reverse position of the abdominal organs. So your pain is not likely to be of the appendicitis. Your physician will diagnose it. He may go for ultrasound examination of the abdomen.
