What are the origins of Easter?

In: Easter

Answer

Two versions:

The Northern European religions had a spring festival that celebrated fertility. Eggs, rabbits and other fertility symbols were all significant parts of their belief system. Even sacrifice and rebirth was part of the belief system.

Constantine brought together the Jewish beliefs with the other religions of Europe by convincing everyone that spring festival was part of the resurection of a Jewish Rabbi. The new "Christian" belief system allowed Constantine to do something that had never been accomplished before; the uniting of Europe.

Paganism
