Lens

The lens is a transparent body behind the iris, the coloured part of the eye. The lens bends light rays so that they form a clear image at the back of the eye - on the retina. As the lens is elastic, it can change shape, getting fatter to focus close objects and thinner for distant objects.

It bends as it 1. enters the cornea

2. enters the lens

3. leaves the lens

Both the cornea and the lens work to focus light that enters the eye. Once the light passes through these two parts of the eye, it hits the retina which sends signals to the brain, allowing it to process what is being seen.
