What are the physical characteristics of an electromagnetic wave?

Answer:
An electromagnetic wave consists of alternating magnetic and electric fields at right angles to each other. All electromagnetic waves travel at a speed of 3x108 m/sec in air. They all undergo diffraction, interference and reflection. They can travel in a vacuum and they all transmit energy from one place to another. They are actually a type of transverse wave in which the direction of the wave is perpendicular to the direction of the movement causing it.
