I assume you mean D-con as an abbreviation for de-contaminant or De-contamination. This falls under the heading of damage control, and is a heavy type of subject. There are what are called De-con guns that somewhat resemble some form of fire extin guishers. They are not fire-control apparatus but are sometimes used in the clean-up of chemical blazes involving toxic chemicals. they have odd-shaped nozzles and are held at about a 30 degree down angle by the operators. I have seen this type used in asbestos clean-ups at a local library. Then there are Decontamination trucks- which have odd pan-c ake shaped bodies on the back of a regular truck chassis- vaguely resembling a UFO. In use these lay down a white smoke screen from some sort of Hydroxide powder and this is intended to clean up the ground following chemical accidents. There are smaller models on two-wheel carts that are hand-pushed and resemble farm and garden implements! so there you have it. Deacon, pronounced somewhat similar, is an ecclesiastical rank. there is no other connection. D-con was a trade name for a pesticide-and featured the Boxer Muhammad Ali in ads. My Mother thought it was a pun on (deacon_ and wondered why this name would be attached to a pesticide! small wonder- this was long before the child abuse scandals rocking the church.
