There are many pros and cons including the ones listed below-

Pros (Advantages)-

1. Allows mines to be well hidden

2. Can be mined as deep as the company has permitted gaining more access to the minerals.

3. Produces very little waste

4. Helps stabilise the ground preventing rocks from falling.

Cons (Disadvantages)

1. Can often cause flooding

2. Destruction to the environment

3.Air pollution

4. Inaccessible fires in abandoned mines

5. Many toxic Chemicals and gases can leaking into soil and water causing many animal deaths.

6. Can cause many health issues to the workers including skin diseases, respiratory problems due to the gases and even black lung disease.
