- citizens are given full civil rights and freedoms , including freedom of press, freedom of speech, right to employment, right to religion etc.
- everyone is given a voice, through elections, referendums and other public conferences
- the majority always "wins". What the majority of the citizens of a country want, this is what is given.
Cons:
- it is a weak government - turnover of governments is frequent
- there is often a lot of interest in political gain, and power gain by politicians and those in parliament, rather than the search for what is best for the country.
