When acidic rain falls, the first things to be affected are the pond and lake creatures... The most pollution sensitive animals will die off first, e.g: Leeches, Crayfish and Snails (basically the soft bodied animals). Then as the acid in the water gets to a stronger pH, crustaceans, insects, snails and plankton begin to die off and creatures such as the dragonfly larvae, water beetle, and the bloodworm will thrive and grow in numbers. After that the pH will get stronger again (around pH5), and this means most of the plankton will be gone, but the most unwanted will start to survive and grow stronger yet valuable fish will be gone e.g: Salmon, Trout and Roach. Once the pH goes below 5, the pond/lake will be basically rid of fish and other animals, and it will be covered in moss. Hope I helped a little ;) x
