Canada's top political leader is called a Prime Minister. That means the first minister of Canada - The provinces have Premiers as the top political leader. Our political system is similar to the United Kingdom and has a parliament house in the capital city - Ottawa called the House of Commons. It's where the Prime Minister meets with the Members of Parliament. They are elected in the ridings (political divisions) of each province. Currently - 2009 - Stephen Harper is the Prime Minister.
