Answer:
The question of what are the results of global warming is very different then what may be the results of global warming. If global warming continues to warm the planet beyond the current levels on the planet we could see a very different world. Glaciers and ice caps over land melting will cause rises in sea levels that will put some island nations in peril. Any low-lying land near the coast will be flooded. Rising temperatures will create more desert conditions in warm countries, like Africa, where drought and famine are already causing deaths. Increased warmth will affect the climate, with storms becoming more severe and more dangerous.

The current situation though is what we should be dealing with on this question. The planet itself would end up very cold and dead without the effect we refer to as global warming.

The planet follows some very normal cycles. We are currently in a very normal warming phase. Scientists have shown this through glacial samples that show us the relative temperatures for the past 650 thousand years. We see that the planet does indeed cycle very regularly around a 100K year cycle. (see Vostok link below)

During these warmer cycles we see warmer and longer summers followed by shorter and warmer winters.

The results of this event are that we see higher then average levels of CO2. This is due to the inability of the Northern oceans to absorb this CO2 when warmer.

We also see agriculture change. Grapes, for example, can be grown further north then when we are in the lower temperatures. We have historical data to support that grapes were grown historically where it is presently too cool to grow them. Warmer temps would restore this ability.

Greenland would also show previous civilizations again. Right now, Viking huts and other community sites are invisible because they are under glaciers that grew over them in the 1400's. A result of global warming would be that we could do further research on these communities.
