Geothermal energy is created by the eruption, which generates electrical power. Eruptions make the soil fertile. Mt. Merapi's soil is so fertile that three crops can

be grown and harvested in one year. Over time, ash and lava turn into soil. Eruptions create land masses. When volcanoes erupt, they release some healthy gases.

Those gases are hydrogen and carbon dioxide. During some days, people can ski on top of volcanoes.

Well obviously one risk would be to die a sudden death related to an eruption (whether lava or ash). Another would be cancer or other damages to your lungs related to smoke and harmful gases.

Benefits would be largest if you were a farmer, seeing as the ash makes the land very fertile. Otherwise, perhaps you like hiking?

PROS: the only big city in Maine. CONS: you have to be a city person, and even so, this isn't a big city. Traffic, expensive homes. Probably many more, but I am prejudice because i live in Maine.
