What are the rules for Statian Rummy?

Answer:

Rules:

  1. Every player is dealt 5 cards.
  2. The remaining cards are placed face-down. This is the draw pile.
  3. The top card is removed and placed face-up next to the draw pile. This is the discard pile.
  4. At the beginning of his turn, a player takes the top card from either the draw pile or the discard pile.
  5. The player then discards one card from his hand.
  6. To win, a player must have a four-card straight with alternating suites. Either spades and hearts or clubs and diamonds, but NOT any other combination.
  7. The player's fifth card must NOT be the same as any card in his straight. If it is, he cannot go out until it is discarded.
  8. Players may NOT have more than five cards in their hand at any time; they must always draw one and discard one during each turn, except when going out.
  9. The first player out wins.

It's a fun game but hardly anyone knows about it...try it!
