It depends on what kind of craft you're making, and what tools you'll use. Generally, you should be careful with scissors, glue, hot glue guns, and paint (wouldn't want any stains). Be sure to work in an area suitable for whichever particular craft you'll be doing. For more advanced crafts, it'd be best to keep out any children or animals. And if there's a need for them, always wear safety glasses.
Safety and Precautionary Measures during Needle crafting
-Dispose of needles attached to tubing.
-When cutting thread/ fabric do not bite through with your teeth or tear it with your hands.
-Keep all accessories in a special container.
-While sewing keep needles 35 centimetres away from your eyes.
- Make sure you have enough room to work safely and efficiently. Cramped spaces can be dangerous.
- Protect your pets and keep them away from the crafts area while you're working.
- Don't leave young children unattended with dangerous tools or toxic materials even for a few minutes.
- Minimize distractions. Turn off the TV or the radio if it's distracting. Safety requires concentration.

Cost is one of the benefits for using indigenous materials for handicraft making. If handicrafts are made with indigenous materials, there will be no material shipping costs which lower the overall cost of the production and the materials will be much more readily available.
