From the CDC (see related link): Signs of genital warts:

  • One or more growths on the penis, testicles, groin, thighs, or anus.
  • Warts may be raised, flat, or cauliflower-shaped. They usually do not hurt.
  • Warts may appear within weeks or months after sexual contact with an infected person.

But most men have no symptoms from HPV infection.

Most men who get HPV never develop any symptoms or health problems. But for those who do develop health problems, these are some of the signs and symptoms:

Genital warts
  • One or more growths on the penis, testicles, groin, thighs, or in/around the anus.
  • Warts may be single, grouped, raised, flat, or cauliflower-shaped. They usually do not hurt.
  • Warts may appear within weeks or months after sexual contact with an infected person.
Anal cancer
  • Sometimes there are no signs or symptoms.
  • Anal bleeding, pain, itching, or discharge.
  • Swollen lymph nodes in the anal or groin area.
  • Changes in bowel habits or the shape of your stool.
Penile cancer
  • First signs: changes in color, skin thickening, or a build-up of tissue on the penis.
  • Later signs: a growth or sore on the penis. It is usually painless, but in some cases, the sore may be painful and bleed.
Cancers of the oropharynx
  • Sore throat or ear pain that doesn't go away
  • Constant coughing
  • Pain or trouble swallowing or breathing
  • Weight loss
  • Hoarseness or voice changes that last more than 2 weeks
  • Lump or mass in the neck

There is no set "look". However, generally:

HPV (Genital warts) look like small pearls, on the penis, anus, or female Genital area.

Size varies, from "small, 1-2 MM" to "large, 5-6MM".

Smaller and larger is not uncommon...

They may itch, or they may not.

There may be "one or two" or "lots" (20+ warts)

If in any doubt seek medical advice, and avoid sexual contact with others until you know.

Most people with HPV do not develop symptoms or health problems from it. In 90% of cases, the body's immune system clears HPV naturally within two years.

  • But sometimes, certain types of HPV can cause genital warts in males and females. Rarely, these types can also cause warts in the throat -- a condition called recurrent respiratory papillomatosis or RRP.
  • Other HPV types can cause Cervical cancer. These types can also cause other, less common but serious cancers, including cancers of the vulva, vagina, penis, anus, and head and neck

Genital warts are the only visible symptoms of HPV. A person can have the Human Papillomavirus but they may never contract the visual symptoms. People with the virus may never have had sex with more than one person.
There are several signs and symptoms of HPV but most people do not get them. 50-80% of sexually active people have HPV but they don't show symptoms nor they have any health issues from it.

If you are suffering from HPV type 11 and 16 that account for 90% of all genital wart cases, you might get genital warts. Keep in mind genital warts might need months or even more than a year to show up after you get infected by the virus itself.

For women, they need to get annual pap smear test to detect if they have HPV strains that can cause cervical cancer. Having HPV doesn't mean they will get cervical cancer. Only those with antibody problem will eventually grow cervical cancer. Most people clear up their HPV infection within 1-2 years.
Symptoms of congenital HPV infection may include lung infection and obstructed air passages from warts inside the windpipe.
Nearly 50% of women infected with HPV have no symptoms although genital warts may appear weeks or months after infection.
HPV is a virus and in many cases, particularly men, there are no symptoms. If the virus is present externally you can get genital warts. The only other way to know for women is to have a papsmear and have it sent for the HPV test as well.

No I don't believe it is, as only females are the ones who receive the HPV vaccine.
There is a chance, but not likely. See related link.
