Signs a women/man is psychologically abused:
- Becomes quiet and withdrawn.
- Does not mix well at special events and generally sits quietly in a corner.
- Refuses to speak to women if at an event or a woman victim refuses to speak to a man.
- Keeps shifting eyes to their abusive partner to be sure they can do something such as ordering a meal; having a drink or even speaking.
- Often psychological abuse can turn into physical abuse and the victim may have a black eye; missing tooth; split lip; bruises or abrasions.
- The victim has no friends and is often not allowed out without their abuser.
- If the victim works the abuser keeps a strict time schedule on them and if they are off work at 5 PM they had better be home no later than the time it would take to get from their workplace to their home.
- Some male abusers may tell their victim they cannot wear makeup or nice clothing (the abuser is insecure and does not want his victim to attract other men.)
- Female abusers can be sly about their psychological abuse, but if one looks closely there are a lot of red flags (examples given above.) Women can be extremely jealous of a female even coming near their victim and men can be just as jealous if a man approaches their victim of abuse.
- The victim is guarded closely by their abuser if they are around family and sometimes refuses to go to family events and orders his/her victim to stay home with them.
